Certified Translation UK

Many situations arise where you may be asked to provide a certified translation of a particular document such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate. This is not the same as a "notarized translation" which must be authenticated by a notary public and will incur additional costs. If you require a notarized translation, we can arrange the appropriate notary services.

Unlike many countries, the UK does not have a sworn translation system. This is where translators must be registered and sworn in before a court to become a sworn translator or court certified translator authorized to provide a certified translation.

How it works

• Our certified translations are in accordance with the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ guidelines.

• A signed translation certification letter will accompany the certified translation and be sent to your postal address (if required).

• The translation certification letter attests to the competence of the translator and the accuracy of the translation compared with the original as presented to us.

• The company countersigns the certified translation in many cases.

Important: Always check with the authority requesting the certified translation from you as to the form of translation certification they require before placing an order especially if it is a non-UK authority.

Apostille

Documents considered public will often have to be “legalised” for use in a second country. An Apostille certificate is issued in the country in which the public document was issued and authenticates the origin of the document for use in a second country that is party to the Hague Apostille Convention.
