Which languages do you cover?
We cover many of the languages used in business across the world and to list them would take up considerable space! Please ask for the language you require. If we cannot meet your requirements at this time we may be able to refer you to another reputable provider.
Do you use Google Translate or similar tools?
As one of the UK's top translating companies we never use automated translation tools! All our translators are graduates many of whom are UK and EU based. We never compromise on quality and will assign your translation project to the most aptly qualified and experienced linguist.
Do I need to provide the original document?
No. Even translations that are to be certified can be sent to us via email.
How do you price a translation?
Pricing is based on the volume you wish to translate (the word count), the language pair required, the complexity of the document and the urgency of your request. We will confirm a flat fee for your project once all the necessary information has been received and processed.
How competitive are your prices?
Unlike many translation companies we do not justify high costs through the use of expensive project management platforms and high tech software. Our fees reflect the time, effort, qualification and skill of all of our collaborators.
What do you need from me to start a translation?
Please provide all relevant background information, existing glossaries/preferred industry terminology, the purpose of the translation, your deadline and any further details that will help us understand your needs.
Are translations checked before they are delivered?
We offer 3 service options:
Professional service – Translation Only (only checked by the same translator)
Premier Service – Translation and Review (our most popular service)
Premier Plus Service – Translation, Editing/Proofreading and Review
Why are editing and proofreading required if a human, professional translation has been made?
See our Editing page. You’ve hit the nail on the head with the word “human”. Our professionals are only human and it is easy to miss something when they have been working particularly on a lengthy or complicated text. That’s why a fresh pair of eyes is useful.
What file formats do you work with?
We can work with many file types although it is best to send the texts you wish to have translated in an editable format. This saves time in providing the quote and in performing the translation or editing and consequently it saves you money!
How quickly can you translate my document?
This depends on the document. The average is around 2,000 - 2,500 words per day but is variable. Additional time must be allowed for our Premier and Premier Plus services.
How can I pay for my translation?
We accept IBAN transfers into a UK or Euro Zone bank account. PayPal and credit/debit card payments are also accepted and you can make a secure payment online or by phone. A 4% surcharge is currently applied to Paypal and bank card payments.
At least 50% must be paid in advance and full payment is required for first time customers.
Do your prices include VAT?
No, Language Matters Worldwide Ltd is not VAT registered as our turnover is currently below the threshold for VAT registration in the UK.
What if I am unhappy with the translation?
We pride ourselves in our commitment to excellent customer service and remain available after delivery to respond to any queries you may have.
If you have any major concerns as to the quality of the work, please address the matter to us within 7 working days from receipt of the translation. We will review the work and if necessary seek the advice of an independent member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists or Institute of Translators and Interpreters as to the standard of the work, who may provide a written report depending on the nature of your concern.
Should your complaint be found to be vexatious, relate to errors made in the text by a third party or purely a matter of personal preference in the choice of expression, Language Matters Worldwide Ltd will accept no liability and the cost of any remedial work incurred by us will be invoiced to you as well as the cost of any independent expert report.
Will you provide a free sample?
No. If you wish to translate a very large document, we will be pleased to translate a small section thereof at our standard rate. If we cannot address any concerns or queries to your complete satisfaction, then you are simply free not to proceed with the rest of the order.
How do you ensure confidentiality?
We are happy to sign any Confidentiality Agreements and/or Non-Disclosure Agreements that you request of us. All information received by us in the process of providing a quote or the translation service is handled in the strictest confidence and disclosed only to those members of our teams who are assigned to your project.
What do you do with my personal details?
Please see our Privacy Policy. Note: we never sell or disclose any details we receive from you.
Can you provide a certified translation or a sworn translation?
Yes, we offer certified and sworn translations for the UK and many other countries. See Certified Translation.
Do I need an Apostille?
